Say 'hi' to another Heim Barbecue coming to North Texas

"Whirlwind" is the correct word to describe Travis and Emma Heim's year. What started as a barbecue trailer launched into a rapidly-growing restaurant and whiskey bar in Fort Worth, Heim Barbecue, that opened in August 2016. Before the year is up, the owners have already announced Heim Barbecue No. 2, expected to open sometime in 2017.

It won't be in Dallas. Darn.

The second Heim will be in Fort Worth, like the first. The new location, opened in conjunction with Providence Restaurants, will be at 4400 White Settlement Road, where Froggy's and Thurber Mingus once were, according to a Facebook post explaining the new restaurant.

"We had very little interest in opening another restaurant, since we knew the amount of work, time, and money that would be involved," the post reads, "but this was truly an opportunity that we could not pass up!" The couple apparently had always wanted to open a barbecue joint at that White Settlement Road address.

"Emma and I feel like this is a one-of-a-kind space, with a gorgeous patio right on the river, stage for live music, bigger kitchen space, and much more. It is going to take a ton of work to get the space up to our standards but we are excited to start this awesome project and serve many more people great Texas BBQ in the exciting new River District area," Travis Heim writes.

He promises "vegetarian options (gasp!)." Gasp is right.

In a restaurant review, Dallas Morning News special contributor Mark Vamos said Heim's famous bacon burnt ends are "so good they stop traffic."
