Henderson Avenue in Dallas gets a new pizza joint, Pie Tap

Pie Tap isn't only pizzas: The restaurant sells salads, pastas and sandwiches, too.

Our Dallas Morning News dining critic Leslie Brenner says "every neighborhood needs a good pizza joint." (It should be a rule, right?) She counts Dallas' first Pie Tap Pizza Workshop and Bar, located in the Design District, as one. Now there's a second Pie Tap, on Henderson Avenue in Dallas.

Pie Tap's owners originally intended to open first on Henderson, Brenner reports, but they got wrapped up in permitting snafus. A third Pie Tap is expected to open in Frisco next, she says.

Pie Tap isn't only pizzas: The restaurant sells a handful of salads and pastas, plus sandwiches such as a soppressata, salami, pepperoni and provolone number called Beast of Burden. Pie Tap also has a separate brunch menu.

Pie Tap has happy hour deals -- or, rather "tappy hour" deals -- such as $2 off draft beer and wine from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Late-night specials on beer, wine and pizza run Sunday through Thursday after 9 p.m. And pies cost $10 every Tuesday evening. (Pizzas are otherwise priced $12 to $17.)
