Where to find National Taco Day deals in D-FW

"Another 'National [Blank] Day'?" you cry. "There is at least one of these per week at this point! Aren't we sick of them yet?"

Yes, we would be. If they didn't mean we got some free or cheap food we very much enjoy. Like tacos.

As it happens, Oct. 4 is National Taco Day. Yeah, we don't know why either. Does it matter? It's a good excuse for fine dining establishments to give us some good deals. Like these:

$1 tacos at Fuzzy's

Fuzzy's Taco Shop will be selling almost all of its Baja Tacos for $1 all day long, provided you're dining in. (The exceptions are the fajita, shrimp and "California Heat" tacos.)

The latest food and drink reviews, recipes and info on the D-FW food scene.

Or with:

1 free chicken fajita taco (and other deals) at Taco Cabana

Participating D-FW Taco Cabana locations are using National Taco Day as an excuse to host its annual "Taco Treat" fundraiser, which will support ACH Child and Family Services. You can buy a $1 coupon book — the proceeds of which go to the charity — that includes vouchers for five free bean and cheese tacos and a buy-one-get-one Dr Pepper fountain drink.

Also, if you go to Taco Cabana between 5-8 p.m. on National Taco Day, you'll get one free chicken fajita taco (while supplies last). No purchase necessary.

Create your own Taco Plate at El Fenix

For $4.98, El Fenix will let you create your own Taco Plate. "Choose a soft or crispy taco shell to stuff with either beef picadillo or seasoned chicken, and enjoy it with a generous side of rice and beans."

This deal actually lasts beyond National Taco Day: It runs through Sunday, Oct. 9.

Giveaways at R Taco

The artist formerly known as Rusty Taco is having a fiesta at its original location (on Greenville Avenue) from 6-8 p.m., where they'll be doing giveaways, giving guests a chance to win a $100 gift card and having Dos Equis specials. 10 percent of sales will be donated to the North Texas Food Bank.
