New Dallas shop makes ice cream sandwiches with sweet buns

Milk n' Cream is coming to Dallas, bringing Sweet Buns filled with ice cream.

As if Dallas isn't already bursting with high-calorie food options, Milk n' Cream is introducing yet another sweet treat: the milk and cream bun. This new concept is expected to open Aug. 13 near Lowest Greenville Avenue, in the same shopping strip as recently reopened dive bar Ships Lounge and forthcoming Toasted Coffee + Kitchen

Inspired by the Orange County-based Milky Bun, the Milk and Cream Bun is similar to ice-cream stuffed doughnuts. The difference is merely in the bun; unlike doughnuts, these "sweet buns" will be larger, more dense and less sweet according to Milk n' Cream owner Man Ho. As a result, the ice cream doesn't melt immediately and the entire product isn't too sweet.

A number of ice cream flavors and toppings will be available. For $6, customers can choose a flavor and one topping (additional available for purchase). Once the ice cream is scooped into the bun, the sandwich is put through a machine that seals it and heats it for about 15 seconds.

Milk n' Cream will also sell regular scoops of ice cream. It will change out the flavors frequently, include holiday flavors, and will eventually begin incorporating non-dairy ice cream options.
