How to earn free Chipotle this summer

If you've reached the point where Chipotle employees know you by name, Chiptopia is for you. Even if you haven't quite reached that level of Chipotle-enthusiasm, you won't want to miss this opportunity to earn free Chipotle.

Despite the somewhat recent food safety issues, Chipotle is launching a summer rewards program called "Chiptopia" to allow loyal patrons to win up to nine free burritos and Catering for 20 (worth $240). Plus, participants get free chips and guacamole just for signing up, as long as they do it in July.

Rather than basing this rewards program on dollars spent or accumulated points, Chiptopia is based on the total amount of paid visits by a customer. Four visits in a month puts the customer at "mild" status, eight brings them to "medium" and 11 paid visits puts them at "hot." Every level-up gives customers a free entrée, so a "mild" customer will win just one, while a "hot"-status customer will get three.

Thankfully, the free entrées earned from each level-up may be used in the total number of visits, so customers only need to purchase nine burritos each month for maximum rewards.

Visits reset at the beginning of each month. However, if a Chipotle-lover reaches the same status all three months (July through September), they'll win a bonus reward. "Mild" status all three months earns an additional free entrée, "medium" brings in $20 of Chipotle merchandise, and "hot" results in the $240-value catering for 20.

Customers can sign up for the program as soon as July 1.
