The fest opens Oct. 21 with an exclusive fundraising event called Down to the Roots, which brings two notable chefs from each major city in Texas to highlight the biggest and best in Texas cuisine. Chefs include Dallas' Dean Fearing (of Fearing's Restaurant; he'll also perform at the event with his all-chef band, the Barbwires), Tyson Cole of Uchi and Uchiko in Austin, and Jason Dady of the Jason Dady Restaurant Group in San Antonio.

The next afternoon brings the Texas-sized Grand Taste, which features more than 30 chefs, 30 wineries and spirits, craft cocktails and beers from around the world. You'll sample scrumptious bites and  libations while looking out at the distinct Dallas skyline.
