Chicago's favorite cult popcorn snack flies into a new location at D/FW airport

If you've never flown through Chicago O'Hare, you'll have to take our word for it: Garrett Popcorn is a thing. Passengers pray for layovers or delays. Anything to grab a tin filled with the cult favorite snack.

If that's not convincing enough, you can now try for yourself. The snack shop's newest location is now open in D/FW International Airport at Terminal B near gate 27. It's already creating a stir. USA Today readers voted it the number one Best Airport Grab-and-Go Dining for 2016.

Garrett Popcorn Shops sells delectable mixes like CaramelCrisp with "deep butter notes, sweet brown sugar and a crème brûlée crunch" and add-ons like almonds, pecans, macadamias or cashews. For those who prefer a less sweet taste, there are cheesy and buttery varieties as well.

If you're really willing to go out on a limb, a fan favorite is the seemingly unconventional Garrett Mix.

It blends the "sophisticated sweetness of CaramelCrisp and the savory goodness of CheeseCorn."

To celebrate the new shop's opening, they're running a special with Garrett Mix treat bags for $1 each and a "complimentary special-edition gift" with the purchase of a one gallon tin, a release teases. Tins come in 1, 2, 3.5 and 6.5 gallon sizes, and the company offers gift packaging for a variety of special occasions.

Garrett Popcorn opened in Chicago in 1949, and they air pop small batches of non-GMO kernels throughout the day, combining "secret family recipes in old-fashioned copper kettles," the release says. In addition to the newest Dallas location, there are shops across the world in places like New York, Las Vegas, Abu Dhabi and Hong Kong, to name a few. Here's a glimpse of their first day at D/FW:
