Austin Food + Wine Festival is canceled because of wet, muddy grounds

For anyone planning to make the drive from the Dallas-Fort Worth area to Austin for a delicious three days of food and wine, don't.

For the first time ever, the Austin Food + Wine Festival has been canceled because of weather. The website says the grounds of Auditorium Shores and Republic Square Park have been saturated.

Those who purchased tickets, which could cost as much as $625, will be refunded. Find additional refund information here.

Many of the events were sold out, the website notes. Big names included Andrew Zimmern (host of Bizarre Foods series on Travel Channel), Amanda Freitag (Food Network Chopped judge and New York chef), Hugh Acheson (Top Chef judge on Bravo) and Jonathan Waxman (chef-owner of restaurants in New York City, Nashville and Atlanta), among others.

Dallas and Fort Worth chefs that were expected to make appearances included Tim Love (Lonesome DoveWestern Bistro, The Woodshed Smokehouse and more), Tyson Cole (Austin chef and executive chef of Dallas' Uchi), Kent Rathbun (Abacus, Hickory and more), Julian Barsotti (Carbone's Fine Food & Wine, Nonna and coming-soon Sprezza) and many more.
