You've probably heard of Christmas in July, but how about Oktoberfest in March?

The annual German festival -- and its celebration locally -- typically takes place during late September through early October, but downtown Dallas' Biergarten on Lamar has a new spring twist on the Bavarian tradition. The new concept from notable restaurateur Joseph Palladino -- the man behind Nick and Sam's Steakhouse and Coal Vines pizza -- opened on Nov. 2. And, since they narrowly missed out celebrating the real thing last fall, the restaurant is holding "Mocktoberfest" through March 31.

The month-long special includes a mini burger slider, a mini schnitzel slider, and a mini brat with two sides -- cole slaw and Joe's potato salad -- washed down with a 16 oz. Oktoberfest beer in a Paulaner Okto mug that you get to take home.

The whole Bavarian feast (and keepsake mug) costs $15.

While we may be an entire Texas summer away from the crisp, clear days associated with the true fall festival, burgeoning spring temps make Biergarten on Lamar's 190-person wraparound patio seem like the perfect spot for an Oktoberfest rehearsal.
