Save your $2 bills -- McDonald's is rolling out another value menu change

If you've rolled up to a McDonald's and squinted at the menu looking for those hard-to-find $1 items, you'll have to squint even harder because a new menu is being introduced.

Or with:

What are those items? A McDouble, a McChicken, small fries and mozzarella sticks.

When does it start? Jan. 4 for a five-week run in U.S. restaurants. The menu replaces the Dollar Menu & More.

What about after that five-week run? McDonald's says details might change, but the name and concept will remain.

Why mess with the menu? The Dollar Menu & More apparently confused customers with its range of prices, some as high as $5. The good news: The price returns some sandwiches to that $1 point that made the Dollar Menu so popular. Other fast-food chains are bundling their meals, including Wendy's, which offers a 4-for-$4 meal of Junior Bacon Cheeseburger, chicken nuggets, fries and a drink.

Who agreed to do this? Ronald himself. McDonald's Corp., based in Oak Brook, Ill., hoping to revive slumping sales, put it to a vote. Franchisees voted to put it on the national menu.
