8 places in Dallas gluten-free eaters can dine like kings

People with Celiac disease have no choice but to follow a gluten-free diet, but even people without such health restrictions have adopted the lifestyle.

I don't personally suffer from Celiac disease but have followed a gluten-free diet since 2013. I, like many others, was simply looking to make a healthy change. Luckily, living in a city like Dallas makes it easier than ever.

Here are eight places where gluten-free eaters can dine like kings.

Hopdoddy Burger Bar

This burger joint not only offers gluten-free and meat-free burger options, but it also carries a mean gluten-free beer. And milkshakes. Need I say more? There are several in the area; find one near you.

LYFE Kitchen

LYFE Kitchen makes ordering easy for gluten-free customers by offering an entire diet-friendly menu. At the register, an employee will ask if your order is gluten-free by preference or due to an allergy; this way they know to be extra careful with your order if you are Celiac.

Southpaw's Organic Café

This is one of my personal favorites. I recommend the breakfast bowls and smoothies -- they are healthy and absolutely gluten-free, not to mention delicious. With four locations in Dallas, you likely pass one on the way to work so consider breakfast covered.

Unrefined Bakery

Unrefined Bakery is one of D-FW's greatest gifts to the gluten-free population. A mother-daughter duo opened the bakery and café, which is both gluten-free and soy-free. Whether you are in need of a sandwich for lunch, banana walnut bread for Thanksgiving, trail mix for travel, or a cookie for your sweet tooth, Unrefined has all of these options sans gluten at a taste and price you can't afford to miss.

Fireside Pies

Fireside Pies can make any pizza seamlessly gluten-free using a specialty crust from Smart Flour Foods. Try the Triple "Roni," made with pepperoni, mozzarella, basil, and truffle oil, or the Balsamic Roasted Chicken Pie, complete with pulled chicken breast, mushrooms, blue cheese, diced tomatoes, and fresh spinach. Fireside pizzas usually cost less than $20.

Grab-and-go options

If you're gluten-free, keep quick places like MyFitFoods and Snap Kitchen in your back pocket. Each has a number of locations in the Dallas area that provide healthy, tasty, to-go meals with lots of plainly marked gluten-free options in prepackaged portions for foodies on the go.

Crème de la Cookie

Toni Rivard's gourmet bakery serves some of the most delectable, melt-in-your-mouth, gluten-free treats in D-FW. The only location is in Snider Plaza in Dallas, but it is worth the drive. The "sparkling fudgie" is a chocoholic's dream, served warm and topped with powdered sugar. Also try the macarons, in flavors like pistachio, hazelnut, raspberry, chocolate, and lemon.
