It's been a few years since Dallas chef Tre Wilcox has been tied to one kitchen. The former Top Chef contestant has spent much of 2014 and 2015 cooking at one-off foodie events, hosting private classes and catering parties.

By early 2016, he'll continue to do the classes and catering, but in a public space. Tre Wilcox Cooking Concepts is expected to open in Plano next year. Some of the events include hands-on cooking classes (a.k.a., learn while you cook), demonstration cooking classes (a.k.a., drink wine while Wilcox does all the work), corporate team building events and private parties.

Wilcox has formerly worked at Abacus, Eatzi's and now-defunct Village Marquee. He was named as one of 11 best chefs in our area in 2012 by Dallas Morning News restaurant critic Leslie Brenner.

Tre Wilcox Cooking Concepts: 8200 Preston Road, Suite 135, Plano. Expected to open in early 2016. trewilcox.com.
