UPDATE: D Magazine reports that San Salvaje in downtown Dallas has closed permanently.

The restaurant, helmed by chef Stephan Pyles, had recently scaled back its hours to lunch only.

We reported on Oct. 1 that San Salvaje was expected to become a private event space in the evenings. No word yet from the chef on whether that's still happening.

A note on the door, below, says the landlord changed the locks.

Dallas Morning News restaurant critic Leslie Brenner gave San Salvaje four stars in summer 2014. Chef Pyles previously operated a restaurant called Samar, which later became San Salvaje at the same address. Pyles still owns and operates his namesake restaurant, Uptown restaurant Stampede 66 and airport restaurant Sky Canyon.
