Hickory has only been open in Plano since June, but it's already spawned a little sister in the making, a restaurant expected to open in Terminal B at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport in 2016.

Hickory is a casual place that sells burgers, barbecue and tacos, which chef-owner Kent Rathbun calls "three of Texans' favorite things." Rathbun also owns fancier spots Abacus, in Uptown Dallas; and Jasper's, in Plano, Richardson, Austin and the Woodlands. Hickory is Rathbun's most dressed-down restaurant by far.

D/FW Airport is home to dozens of outposts for North Texas based restaurants, including Cool River Cafe, the new Dallas Cowboys Club, Fort Worth's Reata, TV star Richard Rawlings' place Gas Monkey Bar & Grill, Cousin's Bar-B-Q, Railhead BBQ and Urban Taco, among others.

At Hickory, some of the items that made the menu are Wagyu brisket and a bacon and fried egg burger. We'll know more about the menu as the 2016 opening approaches.
