Julia Child would have been 103 years old on Aug. 15, and that's worth celebrating.
La Madeleine is lighting the candles a few days early: It's giving away free mini chocolate-almond tarts on Aug. 11. The recipe, according to a spokesperson, is a twist on one of Julia's favorite desserts.

To get a dessert, just say "Joyeux Anniversaire, Julia Child" when you arrive, and voila!, you'll get a free tart. All La Madeleines in the Dallas-Fort Worth area will participate except for the restaurants at Love Field and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. Find locations here.
