Secret dinner party in Dallas will be Sept. 17

Event planners behind Dallas' first Dîner en Blanc, a secret all-white dinner party, aren't divulging many details. Part of the fun is the mystery behind it. But we do know this: It takes place Sept. 17.

And where will it be in Dallas? They're not telling. And they're not going to.

Everyone invited to the pop-up picnic is required to wear white, head to toe. You do have to be invited; get your name on the waiting list here. Attendees will not know where the 1,200-person, outdoor dinner will take place until they board a bus on Sept. 17.

The sophisticated dinner party started in Paris nearly 30 years ago, and the hosts plan to keep many of the Parisian traditions at the Dallas event.

All guests will be asked to bring their own tables, chairs and linens. Many will also bring centerpieces, silverware and even fine china.

Attendees will roll their pop-up picnic from the bus to the unannounced venue, then enjoy an evening of dinner and dancing among more than a thousand new friends dressed in white. Attendees can either bring their own dinner and pay $37 per person for the experience, or buy dinner on-site from Wolfgang Puck Catering for a larger, not-yet-announced fee.

The three Dallas-area hosts, Rachael Kissel, Karen Raehpour and Marti Fox, expect to make it a yearly affair. It could get bigger, too: Paris hosted 13,000 people at this year's Dîner en Blanc.
