Yes, that's an Airstream trailer on the patio of Ida Claire, which is now having its soft opening in Addison. But save the patio sipping for another day: It's hot and there's lots more to see inside.

The spacious restaurant has coloful bird cages hanging from the ceiling and cozy booths lining the wall. The food is mostly southern with some global influences.

On a seemingly sleepy Monday evening last week, nearly every seat was taken. A friend and I shared the sweet potato chip duck confit starter -- a bowl of crispy sweet potato chips topped with duck, goat cheese, gravy and a sunny-side-up duck egg. We also tried the crawfish ravioli and the Ida Like a Burger: a beef patty with pimento cheese and black pepper aioli slathered on a sweet potato bun.

Other items on the menu that caught our eye were the oyster po boy, a tasso and peach flatbread and the three biscuit sandwiches meant to be eaten with knife and fork.

After reading the menu, you can help but say "Ida Claire" in your best southern accent. (You can leave your hoop skirt at home, though.)

The cocktail menu stays in the South with its variety of juleps and punches.

The restaurant is open for lunch as of Monday, July 27. (It's open for dinner, too -- and had been for at least a week.) Brunch is coming soon.
