Cake balls were Wiggins' answer to what she jokingly calls "diet cake."

"Two of those [cake balls] are still smaller than a slice of cake," Wiggins rationalized a few years back. To curb her desire to eat a whole slice of cake every day, she'd make a batch of cake balls, eat one after dinner, and take the rest to the office.

Soon, an accidental business formed: Her coworkers requested her famous desserts at Thanksgiving. Then they told their friends. "They came back from Thanksgiving and wanted to know when I'm taking Christmas orders. I was like, 'Y'all are kidding, right?'" she says. By February 2013, Wiggins was juggling a full-time marketing job and orders of 65 dozen cake balls for Valentine's Day. It was too much, and soon she resigned to focus full time on cake balls.

Her new bakery and retail shop in downtown Plano is 9 months in the making. (She baked at home and in commercial kitchens previously.) Wiggins will sell cake balls, of course, but she's also selling sweets from her friends: macarons from Bisous Bisous Patisserie, caramels and turtles from Dallas Caramel Company, mini cheesecakes from Dandelion Cheesecakes, and cupcakes from Birdcage Bakeshop.

Wiggins' cake balls come in flavors such as Chocolate Maple Bacon, Italian Cream, Thin Mint and Nutella Brownie.

The shop will also sell Boozeballz -- cake balls made with liquor.

Boozeballz come in many varieties, including Almond Joy with coconut vodka or birthday cake with fruit loop vodka. Wiggins also lets customers dream up their own boozy recipes.

"Whatever people can think of" she'll make, she says. The shop even has a TABC license.
