A new Malai Kitchen is slated to open Jan. 31 in Southlake at a shopping center called Park Village.

Owners Braden and Yasmin Wages went beyond their job titles as owners of a Thai-Vietnamese restaurant in Uptown. Last year, they started brewing their own beer on site. They also hired a "full-time coconutter" so they could press their own coconut milk. At the new Southlake operation, the Wages will also make fresh sugar cane juice.

The menu will remain Thai and Vietnamese food, like in Uptown. Some of the signature dishes include Thai coconut soup, green curry chicken and Vietnamese barbecue pork ribs. The Wages will add a few new plates such as Hanoi-style snapper and panang curry duck.

Opening Jan. 31. 1161 E. Southlake Boulevard, Suite #220, Southlake. malaikitchen.com
