It's crawfish season, y'all! Where to eat mudbugs in Dallas

Roll up your sleeves, put on your dancing shoes and smack your lips: It's crawfish season. A couple of upcoming festivals that celebrate the mudbug promise to be big fun.

First up will be the Third Annual Main Street Mudbug Bash, coming March 28 to Main Street Garden downtown. It's an afternoon celebration (noon to 8 p.m.) that will star 3,500 pounds of the tasty little critters, plus live music from the Texas Cotton Kings and the Rebirth Brass Band, games and more.

Chicken Scratch will host its Salute to King Creole Crawfish Festival in West Dallas on April 19, beginning at 4:30 p.m., featuring all-you-can-eat crawfish, live music and a cash bar.

Can't wait for a festival? Hightail it to Sea Breeze Fish Market and Grill in Plano - they boil up a mean mudbug, served as a one-and-a-half-pound platter (with corn and potatoes, natch) for $13.99. Or host your own crawfish boil. Sea Breeze and TJ's Seafood Market both sell the shellfish by the pound. Sound overwhelming? Let TJ's cater it for you - they'll bring the boilers, the propane and all the fixin's.
