Flicks by Chicks Fest announces programming for Oct. 21 event

Organizers on Monday announced the slate for the 16th annual Flicks by Chicks Fest Part 1 on Saturday, Oct. 21.

Niloo Jalilvand is the director of the festival, which is produced by Women in Film Dallas. Eligible films must have a woman in two or more prominent positions, including director, director of photography, editor, producer and-or writer.

The event kicks off with the Flicks by Chicks Fest Filmmakers Luncheon at 1 p.m. at Casa Stellina.

Filmmakers Paula Goldberg and Kimberley Browning will host a "Script to Screen Workshop" at 3 at the same venue.

The festival will move to the Cedars for the Shorts Block Screening. It will begin at 6 p.m. at Alamo Drafthouse, 1005 S. Lamar St., Dallas. Awards will be at 8 p.m. upstairs at Vetted Well.

Among the eight scheduled films are Kaleidoscope Days, directed by Jasnik Moreno; First Date, directed by Rendalee Singletoon; and Imago, directed by Liz Franke. Moreno, Singleton and Franke are scheduled to attend the festival.

Rounding out the schedule are Killed in Action; Ophelia's End; Dime Short; After Words; and Ctrl Alt Delete.

Tickets are $15 for the screening; $35 for the workshop; $35 for the luncheon; and $75 for a VIP pass.

Part 2 of the festival is scheduled for Nov. 4 at the Angelika Film Center at 5321 E. Mockingbird Lane inside Mockingbird Station, Dallas.
