Lebanese Food Festival

What's not to love about a church festival that celebrates Lebanese food and tradition? Taste hummus, falafel, rib-eye beef kebab, baklava and more made by the parishioners of Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church in Lewisville.

Dine in a festival setting that includes music by singer Andre Ibrahim, folk dancing, cooking demonstrations and a children's area. If you're feeling spendy, you can also purchase to-go food packages and Lebanese souvenirs and gifts. If you're not, here's some good news: Admission and parking are free.

Southlake Oktoberfest

The Oktoberfests are many this weekend, with options including a Traders Village celebration in Grand Prairie, Lake Highlands Oktoberfest with the Old 97's and Fry Street Oktoberfest and Fun Run in Denton.

But Southlake's 14th annual Oktoberfest features dachshund races, which are a pretty darn cute spectacle. You can also expect arts and crafts booths, a children's area and performances by a variety of local entertainers (alt-polka group Brave Combo and bluegrass-y pop duo the O's are featured).
