Update May 7 at 2:17 p.m.: The Homegrown Festival, previously scheduled to be at Main Street Garden, will now be at the Bomb Factory on Saturday. All scheduled bands will perform there.

FAIR PARK SPARKS

Get a little nostalgic and sing along to "Ice Ice Baby" and "All For You" when Vanilla Ice and Sister Hazel take the stage during this free Friday fest. Fireworks, a zip line and other attractions for the kids, and the dancing water fountain show at the Esplanade are among the other draws.

HOMEGROWN MUSIC AND ARTS FESTIVAL

For its sixth edition on Saturday in downtown Dallas, the Homegrown Music and Arts Festival will be bigger and more spread out than ever. The lineup features a diverse group of bands from around the state. Along with the music in Main Street Garden, festivalgoers will find food trucks and other vendors at a marketplace on Harwood Street. Headliners are alt-country kings Old 97's and soul veteran Bobby Patterson from Dallas, along with freaky folk singer Shakey Graves and art-rock giants Spoon from Austin.

UNTAPPED

The craft-beer and music fest on Saturday features more than 250 brews from about 80 breweries and a variety of performers, including hip-hop trio De La Soul, indie pop personality Ariel Pink and metal group the Sword. Also in the musical lineup: Big Data, the Lone Bellow, Knox Hamilton, Greylag, Telegraph Canyon, Doug Burr and more. (Untapped is majority-owned by CrowdSource, a Dallas Morning News company.)

TEXAS SCOTTISH FESTIVAL

You've got to love the Bonniest Knees Contest, the Highland games (cabers! hammers!) and the all-Scottish breed dog show at this Friday through Sunday event. Can you get haggis? You bet your whatever they make haggis out of. Plus, there'll be fish and chips, meat pies and bangers. Throw in plenty of Scottish music, dance and cultural activities and you've got yourself quite the weekend.

FRONTIER FORTS DAYS

Step into Old West history during this Friday and Saturday event at the Stockyards National Historic District in Fort Worth. There'll be an authentic representation of Texas fort encampments including wagons, music, uniforms, Texas military gear and more. The event will include military and artillery demonstrations and parades, American Indian exhibitions and historical interpreters.
