New Dallas service offers CBD oil spray tans in your own home

CBD oil is popping up everywhere in Dallas-Fort Worth, or so it seems. The Metroplex is buzzing about this new ingredient in the health and beauty realm, from functional drinks and coffees to pain creams, and it's even found its way into sunless tanning.

New Dallas company No Bad Looks, owned by esthetician Stephanie Lynch, is a concierge spray tan service specializing in at-home CBD-infused spray tans.

"Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a cannabis extract that won't get you high," says Dr. Corinne Erickson, a board certified dermatologist. "In fact, it has no psychotropic effects whatsoever, but may help your skin."

Dr. Erickson of North Dallas Dermatology Associates also cites studies that show CBD creams have anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties that alleviate itch and dryness. The sunless tanning industry is among the latest to include CBD in its preparations, touting that the moisturizing effects of CBD will improve the appearance and longevity of a spray tan when used as a primer or mixed with the sunless tanning solution itself.

Lynch says all the solutions offered via her new concierge service are organic and vegan-approved. So why take it a step further and add in the CBD brew?

"With me being a former competitive cheerleader and working out six days a week, my body lives in a state of always being sore," Lynch says. "I wanted something that not only helps with pain, but makes me feel good too with some extra color."

She says some clients even skip the tanning part and call on her services simply for the CBD element. They still get sprayed, but with a clear solution that's mixed with the CBD. All spray tans (or sans tans) are customized and painted on, artist-style. The tans are custom-made and carefully curated based on skin type, skin tone and lifestyle.

Dr. Erickson also says she prefers spray tans administered by a technician, rather than a machine-operated booth. She says the booth approach has a higher risk of introducing the spray tan to the eyes and mouth or being inhaled.

"Spray tans are safe if you aren't allergic to any component of the spray tanning solution, and if they are kept away from your eyes, lips and mucous membranes," Dr. Erickson says. "I don't recommend spray tans for anyone with asthma."

CBD not your thing? Lynch says she has other special concoctions she adds to custom spray tans. Tanners may pick from a variety of scents to be infused into the tanning solution, including pineapple and orange ginger. She can also add in other boosters that contain caffeine and a blend of antioxidants to help minimize the appearance of cellulite. Another favorite addition is pea extract, which is said to draw in the skin's natural moisture and inhibit the appearance of crepiness.

So while you're waiting for your grocery delivery, you can snag an at-home spray tan in the comfort of your own living room. Lynch says you dress, or undress, at your own comfort level. She has disposable undergarments, but says the solution often washes out of clothing.

The mobile service starts at a base price of $50 and must be within a 25-mile radius of uptown Dallas. To book an appointment or learn more, visit the company's website at vagaro.com/nobadlooks.
