As Valley View Center continues its long goodbye , it might feel like a little piece of your childhood is slipping away. Demolition has started on the once-bustling mall, which was built in 1973 in North Dallas.

In 1985, a sign at Valley View reminded shoppers about the new Sunday hours. That's the year when Gov. Mark White approved a repeal of the blue law, which banned selling 42 categories of merchandise on consecutive Saturdays and Sundays (this pretty much amounted to a Sunday shopping ban).

Amanda Adams got a little help from her big brother Kyle Adams to place some popcorn onto the world's largest popcorn ball. The ball was at Valley View for area boy scouts and cub scouts to add to it. Dallas was one of 50 stops in the U.S. and Canada. At this point the ball is estimated to weigh 6,000 pounds.
