Rare pink dolphin (likely not) offering midwifery services in Louisiana

If you've logged onto the World Wide Web lately, you may have heard about a couple in Hawaii who are planning a dolphin assist during the impending birth of their child. This obviously involves a TV camera. Well, do we have a reality show pitch for you!

A "rare pink dolphin" was recently spotted (again) off the coast of Louisiana. She's been dubbed "Pinkie," natch, and a charter boat captain told ABC News he's been "taking a ton of pictures of her mating ..."

We'll give you a second there.

Dolphin doulas aren't exactly new, and Penn and Teller featured them on Bullshit! way back in 2008. The most recent whispers of "dolphin assisted childbirth" spread ubiquitously earlier this month, spurring requisite think pieces and concern trolling and pearl clutchery. But, Pinkie -- an interesting development in dolphin celebrity, if we've ever seen one --  adds a little something to the conversation, right?

Catch up on the day's news you need to know.

Or with:

According to the ABC report, Capt. Erik Rue first saw her in 2007, and has spent "a lot of time following her around." Which, duh, wouldn't you? Pinkie's effing weird and awesome in every way.

She's got Beyonce's joie de vivre and T. Swift's sense of style. Being friends with this Instagram-ready dolphin is our #SquadGoal numero uno.

The working title for our show pitch is "Pinkie: Certified Nurse Midwife," and it sounds as watchable as anything else on TLC.
