Seven dogs who have more fun at Dallas festivals than you
Festival time is upon us, and dog lovers know that it's one of the best times of the year to be out and about with your pooch. Out come the festively colored doggy outfits, hats, bandanas and even goggles. As you take in the abundant fests around town, here are some of our favorite local "celebri-dogs" to watch for.
Nelson, 2, goldendoodle
Owners: James and Genesis Butler, Dallas
Occupation: Older-brother duties and keeping the litter brother in line (that means you, Walter the wolfhound)
Favorite festival and why: Bastille Day in Bishop Arts because all the local Vespa guys ride out and enjoy the food
Favorite other place to go and why: Oddfellows (best patio!), Cultivar (best coffee!), Carnival Barker's Ice Cream/Truck Yard (alcohol for the pawrents and doggy ice cream!)
Favorite outing attire: Goggles, a bandana and the occasional bow tie
Favorite snack: Duck feet! Or Milk-Bones (the red ones) and pretty much anything the pawrents have on their plates
Occupation: Ambassador of smiles, Fightin' Texas Waggie
Favorite festival and why: North Texas Irish Festival, because it lasts three days, and all the various Octoberfests, because there are so many of them. Dixicupcup is quite fond of Guinness and Irish beers.
Favorite other place to go and why: NorthPark Center, for shopping, and because at Christmas, it's a great chance to show off the outfits. Dixicupcup is a fashionista.
Favorite outing attire: The cowgirl outfit she wears to the State Fair - she likes the six-guns.
