That D-FW museum you've been curious about just might let you in for free this weekend

Hosted by the Smithsonian magazine, Museum Day lets people all over the U.S. get a taste of some museums in their area for free.

Ever wanted to check out one of North Texas' most interesting historical institutions but didn't want to pay admission? This Saturday (Sept. 22) is the perfect time to scratch that itch.

Hosted by the Smithsonian magazine, Museum Day lets people all over the United States get a taste of some museums in their area for free. Anyone can go to the event website, find a museum to visit and print off a pass, good for admission for two visitors. You can get one pass per email address.

In the Dallas-Fort Worth area, this includes major institutions like the Meadows Museum and Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, but also attractions that are off the beaten path, like the Log Cabin Village in Fort Worth and the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame in Arlington.

Museum Day's theme this year is "Women in History."
