Art Conspiracy invites Dallas to experience art and music through a different perspective for one evening at SKEWED, the 2015 edition of the non-profit's annual summer art auction and concert event.
"SKEWED itself is so much more than a theme for the art, it is a theme for the entire event, from the design to t-shirts to the interior design," said Erica Felicella, the executive director of Art Conspiracy.

For the event, 40 artists and three local bands, Def Rain, Pinkish Black, and DJ George Quartz, will take over Life in Deep Ellum on June 6 beginning at 7 p.m. The bands will perform in between the two live art auctions. Food trucks will be on site to serve up dinner possibilities to attendees.
Unlike the winter Art Conspiracy auction, at which artists create their work for the auction on-site and on a set size board, the summer auction only requires that artists follow the theme.
The artists selected for SKEWED were all invited to a kick-off artists' party. Each randomly drew a word, such as intersection, marriage, sex, perspective, demographic and politics, on which they based their piece of art for the auction.
"We want to create a catalyst for them even though they aren’t creating in the same place," Felicella said.
The artists are free to work in any medium they choose as long as they stick to representing the word they chose to further build upon the event's theme of skewed perspectives.
The entire event is curated to fit the theme, Felicella said. From the music, to the artists selected to the treatment to the venue's walls — everything is geared toward creating a particular experience for attendees and artists alike.
In addition to creating an artistic experience out of the entire evening, SKEWED serves as the jumping off point for Art Conspiracy's philanthropic work. Each year the organization chooses one North Texas charity to sponsor through its annual events; the 2015 beneficiary will be announced at SKEWED.
Previous beneficiaries include Girls Rock Dallas, W. T. White Academy of Visual and Performing Arts - Ceramics Program, and Preservation Link.
Tickets for SKEWED are $10 each and starting bids for the auctions begin at $50.
