Update: Revolver Brewing's charitable beer raised nearly $63,000 for Hurricane Harvey relief

Update Dec. 28 at 3:38 p.m.: Proceeds from Revolver Brewing's Harvey Relief Ale totaled $62,704, according to a spokeswoman. That money will go to Keep Texas Beautiful's Rebuilding Texas Fund, which is supporting the long-term economic recovery of Texas communities devastated by the storm in August, says its website.

Update Oct. 10 at 2 p.m.: Revolver Brewing announced the beer it brewed to benefit Hurricane Harvey relief efforts is now available. The brewery decided to release Harvey Relief Golden Ale, as it's called, in bottles as well as on draft. Find it wherever Revolver Brewing is sold. Several launch events are scheduled for North Texas:

Countless North Texas businesses and celebrities are stepping up to help with relief efforts in parts of Texas where Hurricane Harvey ravaged communities, killing dozens and displacing thousands. So, too, is the beer community.

Companies such as Anheuser Busch, Oskar Blues Brewery and MillerCoors have already pledged to send thousands of cans of water to disaster areas. North Texas' Revolver Brewing in Granbury is brewing up a plan, too: It will create a special beer, the sales from which will benefit the American Red Cross and charities helping with disaster relief efforts.

Revolver expects to begin production the first week of September in hopes of distributing the beer to bars in October. The draft-only beer, which has yet to be named, will be similar to the brewery's High Brass blonde ale. In a statement, Revolver says 100 percent of proceeds of this beer will be donated.

"It's been very hard to watch," said brewery co-founder Rhett Keisler, who grew up in the Houston suburb Sugar Land. "You just realize the effort common, everyday people are putting forward, putting their own lives at risk to rescue people off of roofs in the middle of the night. It's just amazing to me. We want to do our part to help."

Revolver Brewing is currently asking fans to help name the charitable beer. Suggestions on the company's Facebook page include Texas Strong Ale, Brewnity, and Texas Stormbrew. The beer is expected to be available at bars wherever Revolver Brewing is sold throughout the Lone Star State in October.
