Beer buzz: OHB Oktoberfest benefits local breast cancer charity

OHB Oktoberfest

BREWERY: Oak Highland Brewery, Dallas

STYLE: Marzen; a Bavarian lager, originally brewed in March (Märzen), lagered during the summer, and served in the fall. It's the official beer of Munich's Oktoberfest.

THE PITCH: Faithful to the traditional Bavarian Oktoberfest style, this amber-brown colored lager has medium body, a toasted and caramel malt core, and a mild hop profile. The slight bitter notes from the hops lend a nice balance and more complexity than you find in the average American-made Oktoberfest beers. With an alcohol content of 5.8%, this is a delicious, easy-to-drink beer. It would be great for a fall cookout.

FUN FACT: Since this seasonal beer's availability overlaps with Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October), the brewery donates 10% of its Oktoberfest revenues to the Breast Cancer Can Stick It Foundation, a local nonprofit organization that raises funds to support breast cancer research and patient support.

SERVE IT/PAIR IT: Delicious on its own, but also good with grilled sausages, especially bratwurst, roast pork or chicken, pork chops, carnitas, pizza, and mild to medium strength cheeses.
