DC Comics is bringing comic books to Walmart in a huge way with exclusive, 100-page anthology series featuring its pantheon of superheroes.

Starting this summer, the retail superstore will start selling "100-Page Giant Comics" featuring the likes of Batman, Superman and Teen Titans. But these aren't discount stories.

DC is enlisting its top talent to take on its greatest heroes, including Tom King (Mister Miracle, Batman), Brian Michael Bendis (Ultimate Spider-Man, Invincible Iron Man), Dan Jurgens (Actions Comics, Batman Beyond) and many more.

The first four titles will hit store shelves on July 1, with SUPERMAN GIANT, JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA GIANT, BATMAN GIANT and TEEN TITANS GIANT leading the pack. After that, the Superman and Justice League of America titles will drop on the first of every month, with Batman and Teen Titans two weeks later.

Each series will be a combination of classic adventures and new, original tales. It's part of a publishing initiative that has seen DC Comics work to extend its mainstream reach. It's also a way to draw readers in with popular characters while introducing them to newer titles, like Sideways and Super Sons.

"We are extraordinarily excited about working with Walmart to expand the reach of our books," said DC Publisher Dan DiDio. "These new monthly books combine new and accessible stories with reprints of classic comic series. It's a great way for new readers to get into comics and follow the characters they've grown to love in TV and film."

This follows the announcement earlier this year that DC Comics would be publishing young adult and middle-grade comics and graphic novels under imprints DC Ink and DC Zoom. The first of those books are set to arrive this fall.
