Spidey swings to Denton Square in variant cover for 'Amazing Spider-Man #1'

Spider-Man has been to space and he's been underwater. He's lived in New York City and he's spent some time in another dimension. This fall, he's swinging through the Denton Square, if only for a moment.

That's because famed Marvel artist Leinel Francis Yu, in collaboration with Denton comic shop More Fun Comics & Games, have unveiled a special variant cover for Amazing Spider-Man #1, releasing in October.

The cover has the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man swinging over the iconic Denton Courthouse on the Square.

While the comic itself, part of Marvel's 'All-New, All-Different' rebranding, takes Spidey to Japan, the cover pays homage to a cozy part of North Texas.

Last year, More Fun released a variant cover for a Doctor Who comic book, and owner Tim Stoltzfus knew they had to step it up from there.

"I immediately started reaching out to publishers for ideas on upcoming books and characters that would be iconic as the Courthouse itself," he said in a press release today. "Fortunately, Marvel has a new Spider-Man book in the works, and Spider-Man is arguably Marvel's most iconic character of all. It was a perfect fit."

The special edition cover will go on sale October 7, and Stoltzfus said More Fun is working on planning events to celebrate the launch. More Fun is accepting orders for the book in-store starting today or by email at morefunspidey@gmail.com.

"We hope everyone is as excited for this special edition cover as we were when we saw the finished art," Stoltzfus said. "We think Mr. Yu produced a spectacular image of the courthouse and Spider-Man together as the sun is rising and can't wait to share it with everyone!"
