Add musician Jack White and baseball player Ian Kinsler to the list of celebrities that own businesses in Dallas-Fort Worth.
On Monday, custom bat designer and manufacturer Warstic announced it would open a storefront in Deep Ellum that includes a sporting goods shop, batting cage, and attached bar and restaurant. Warstic was founded by Dallasite Ben Jenkins. White, who's become a vinyl magnate, and Kinsler, second baseman for the Detroit Tigers, came on as investors and co-owners in 2016.
Details are slim when it comes to what may be available in the bar and restaurant, but we know it's named Players' Bar and Diner. Appropriate.
The Deep Ellum location at 2900 Main St. will be Warstic's first brick-and-mortar location. The space is currently home to All Star Baggers motorcycle shop, which is relocating soon. Warstic is expected to open in early 2018.
"We want a place where we can truly interact with our customers and bring them into the process and creation of our products," Jenkins said in a statement.
That's good news for sports fans, who will be able to shop for baseball bats and gear, and try out their new toys in the onsite batting cage. (According to city records, the shop is 7,000 square feet.)
