Julia Roberts, Zendaya and the casts of 'Birth of a Nation' and 'Empire' are serious: You need to vote

Celebrities are lining up to shine a spotlight on voting in three recent public service announcements.

Vote Your Future released a star-studded and sometimes emotional voting PSA featuring Julia Roberts, Leonardo DiCaprio, Zendaya, Robert DeNiro, Anne Hathaway and many others.

The celebrity-laden #VoteYourFuture PSA urges people to register to vote no matter what their political leanings. The organization has a YouTube channel on which stars talk more about issues they think matter.

And then there is Fox Searchlight Pictures, which launched a Nationwide Voter Registration initiative that began on Tuesday, Sept. 27, which was National Voter Registration Day. And it didn't stop with just a PSA starring the cast of the company's movie opening Oct. 7, Birth of a Nation.

The company partnered with both theater chains and independent theaters around the country to hold the voter registration that will continue through Oct. 9.

Participating theaters include Movie Tavern, which has locations in the D-FW area, but this will "not be happening in Texas at all," according to an email from a representative.

The cast of Empire goes one further with an actual endorsement, following Joss Whedon's famous friends, superheroes and some regular people in Save The Day, their vehement anti-endorsement PSA.

Leave it to the superheroes and Lyons to be extra.
