Ritz-Carlton completes Las Colinas hotel rebranding

Ritz-Carlton has formerly planted its second flag in Dallas-Fort Worth.

The luxury hotel firm just rebranded the former Four Seasons Resort at Las Colinas.

The change in hotel brands comes after the 2022 sale of the almost 40-year-old resort to a joint venture between Honolulu-based Trinity Investments and Switzerland-based Partners Group. The new owners are spending $55 million to overhaul the landmark property, which for years hosted the PGA Tour’s Byron Nelson golf tournament.

The 400-acre hotel and resort is near Carpenter Freeway in Irving.

“We are delighted to have spearheaded the revival of such an iconic property, not only for Texas but also for travelers worldwide,” Greg Dickhens, managing partner at Trinity Investments, said in a statement. “The proximity and accessibility of a resort of this caliber make it a unique opportunity for luxury leisure and business travelers alike, and we look forward to seeing The Ritz-Carlton Dallas, Las Colinas positioned alongside the country’s top destinations.”

Work to upgrade the property is expected to continue through May.

Design firms Jeffrey Beers International and Leo A. Daly are overseeing renovations. The remodeling will add a new lobby bar and upgraded meeting and ballroom facilities.

The 427 guest rooms will also be updated.

A March opening is scheduled for the new Knife Italian restaurant concept from chef John Tesar.

A second-floor Ritz-Carlton Club is expected to open in February.

The 14,000-square-foot on-site salon and spa will be renovated with a resort pool including luxury cabanas, seating and a new poolside bar.

The Las Colinas property will be Ritz-Carlton’s second location in Dallas.

Uptown Dallas’ 16-year-old Ritz-Carlton Hotel completed a $22 million makeover last year. The 218-room hotel north of downtown is owned by a partnership created by Fort Worth-based Crescent Real Estate.

“Now having two Ritz-Carlton properties in the Dallas area allows us to meet the needs and expectations of even more of our valued guests, from those looking for a luxury metropolitan environment in downtown Dallas to those desiring an elevated escape with distinct personality in the Las Colinas hills,” said Carla Murray with Marriott International Inc.

Ritz-Carlton is part of Marriott’s luxury hotel offerings.

The Las Colinas hotel renovation is just one of a record number of North Texas hotel construction and renovation projects.

At the end of 2023, more than 22,000 new hotel rooms were in the works locally, according to the latest report by industry analyst Lodging Econometrics.
