More apartments are on the way in Frisco’s Railhead development

Irving-based JPI is building rental units in the $2.5 billion project.

Irving-based apartment builder JPI plans to break ground soon on the second phase of a Frisco rental community.

The Jefferson Railhead apartments are part of the $2.5 billion Railhead mixed-use development on the Dallas North Tollway north of Frisco’s Main Street.

The 80-acre Railhead project is a development of Heady Investments. Plans for the Railhead include more than 1 million square feet of office, hotel and high-rise residential buildings and 1,280 apartments.

JPI broke ground earlier this year on the first phase of its apartment development at the Railhead with 450 units. Now the builder is planning to start construction in January on the second phase of the project valued at more than $99 million, according to planning documents filed with the state.
