Yosemite cocktail from the Theodore is a work of art

Welcome to a tongue-in-cheek, but sometimes super serious column documenting adventures with spirits and cocktails when out and about or from the comfort of my own home. Let's discover new things together!

There's a new bar and restaurant at NorthPark Center called The Theodore, after Theodore Roosevelt, and the food and ambiance are both fantastic. But that's not what I'm here to talk about. (Though, seriously, the white beans, leeks & ricotta sourdough toast is to die for and the cheese is made in-house).

Let's get back on track: The drinks at The Theodore are refreshing works of art.

Definitely consider swinging by pre-, during or post-shopping. I would even make the trip without any intentions of shopping -- it's that good!

Or with:

On my first visit, I decided to start at the top of the drink list with the Yosemite cocktail, featuring blueberries, basil, pink peppercorns, crème de violette and Reyka Vodka. Reyka Vodka, from Iceland, on its own has a clean, crisp taste attributed to the fact that it's distilled from arctic spring water that runs through a 4,000-year-old lava field, which naturally filters it even before the vodka production begins.

The Yosemite isn't a vodka drink like the ones with pre-made sugary sweet mixers you can get a college parties and bars. This cocktail is crisp and fresh with layers of flavors that work well together, but don't overpower each other or the vodka. It was incredibly refreshing and because of this after lunch, I was energized and ready to shop (how convenient, NorthPark Center).

I fully intended to work my way down the drink list at The Theodore, but instead just ordered a second Yosemite cocktail. (At least I now have the perfect excuse to head back soon.)
