The Rustic, one of Texas' highest-grossing venues in alcohol sales, is opening a second location

Go into the Rustic in Dallas at happy hour, during brunch or on a Saturday night and you'll see the same thing: Hordes of people jammed at the bar, at tables and throughout its expansive backyard designed for live music and beer swigging.

Pat Green is a part owner at The Rustic in Dallas and often plays shows. (Here, '80s group the Molly Ringwalds perform.)

The restaurant and bar, which boasts one of the biggest bar tabs in the entire state of Texas, is expanding. The Rustic 2.0 won't be anywhere near Dallas-Fort Worth, though: It's slated to open in San Antonio, the Dallas Business Journal reports.

[Update on Sept. 25, 2017: Opening day at the Rustic in San Antonio is Sept. 28.]

A third Rustic is expected to open in Texas, in Frisco, but that won't be until at least 2018.

Operated by FreeRange Concepts (and with some star power from part-owner and Texas country musician Pat Green), the Rustic is part of a family of businesses that include Uptown Dallas next-door neighbor Mutts Canine Cantina, a dog park and bar; Bowl & Barrel, an upscale bowling alley and bar; and the General Public, a restaurant and bar in San Antonio and Houston.

The new Rustic will be located next to General Public and Bowl & Barrel, located in a development called The Rim in northwest San Antonio.

That the Rustic sells more alcohol than any other standalone bar in the Lone Star State is significant. Its inclusion on a list of big sellers means it's in competition with mega arenas such as AT&T Stadium and the American Airlines Center and hotels such as the Gaylord and the Hilton Anatole. At the Rustic, bartenders sell a lot of alcohol.

The Rustic was also named the most popular restaurant in Dallas based on number of dropoffs from Uber. (And if you've seen the smallish parking lot and long line for valet, this makes sense.) It was Lyft's most popular bar -- but not its most popular restaurant.
