You've heard of the Three Wise Men. Now, we have the Three Wise Mules -- not actual animals, you see, but the cocktails that mix ginger and citrus with a bartender's choice of liquor. The drinks here, which go for $12 a pop, each contain lime juice and are topped off with ginger beer. They are the Classic Mule (with Absolut Vodka), Mezcal Mule (Los Amantes Joven Mezcal with prickly pear syrup and jalapeño) and the Mexi-Mule (Espolón Blanco Tequila with grapefruit juice and agave nectar). Get them through the end of the year. Locations in Addison, Dallas, Fort Worth, Frisco, Grapevine and Lewisville. cantinalaredo.com.
This newly opened bar-lounge-club offers a 5 for $5 at 5 deal. Tuesdays through Saturdays from 5 to 8 p.m., get five select cocktails for $5 apiece. The selection of cocktails changes, but you can usually find an old-fashioned or Moscow mule on the list. 2923 Fairmount St., Dallas. citizendallas.com.
This new gastropub/Latin American restaurant in the Castle Hills Village Shops features a bar that favors Latin cocktails. Happy hour is Tuesday through Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. and features $3 beers, $6 Daisies (a Daisy is in the same drinks family as a margarita), and $2 off margaritas and drinks from the cocktail menu. 2560 King Arthur Blvd., Lewisville. facebook.com, search T.B.D. This one-night-only benefit event features five pop-up bars conceptualized and created by 120 of Texas' best bartenders. Each bar has a different theme (think: dive bar or disco bar) and its own menu; all are located within Henry's Majestic in Uptown. The beneficiary of the event is Trigger's Toys, a nonprofit group that helps hospitalized kids and their families with toys, therapy aids and money. Admission is $25 and cocktails are $10; but since it's for a worthy cause, spending some extra money might actually feel good. Dec. 13 at 8 p.m. at Henry's Majestic, 4900 McKinney Ave., Dallas. triggerstoys.com.
