Cheeto shaped like Texas-born Harambe fetches bid of nearly $100K on eBay

A user called valuestampsinc posted a photo of his find on eBay and watched more than 100 offers roll in.

Bidding on a Cheeto shaped like Harambe -- the Texas-born gorilla killed last year at a Cincinnati zoo -- reached a high of $99,700.00 on eBay early Tuesday.

A California-based user called valuestampsinc posted a photo of his find on eBay and watched more than 100 offers roll in. The good news: The person who pulls nearly $100,000 of cheddar out of his PayPal account will get free shipping. The bad news: The rest of the bag of Cheetos is not included.

According to the post, the 1.5-inch orange, powdery version of Harambe was found in a bag of crunchy Flamin' Hot Cheetos.

"As soon as I looked inside I came across this unique Cheetos that looks like Harambe the gorilla," valuestampsinc posted.

Will anyone actually pay nearly six figures for a stale Cheeto that's shipped through the mail? No one really knows. That's left to eBay's user agreement, as if anyone really reads that.

In May, Cincinnati Zoo officials shot and killed Harambe, a 17-year-old western lowland gorilla, after a 3-year-old boy fell into his enclosure.

Since then, Harambe has been frequently remembered: a thoroughbred horse named Harambe nearly made its debut at Churchill Downs, a Canadian hockey team made Harambe jerseys and the claim that he received as many as 15,000 write-in votes in the November elections has been disputed.

Harambe was a Texas resident before Cincinnati. In 2014, he was transferred to Cincinnati from the Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville.
