"It's the simple joys in life..." Candace Payne says in the description for her Facebook Live video that has blown up the Internet today. In it, the woman (who appears to be from Texas. Buzzfeed says she's 37) is sitting in her car after a shopping trip at Kohl's, where she is clearly very excited about something she bought.
"I'd like to say I bought this for my son ... however, this is mine. When it's said and done, at the end of the day, this is mine that I bought. And I'm going to keep it for my own."
What did she buy? A Chewbacca mask. From Star Wars.
And she loves it. The majority of the video is her laughing with the mask on. The best part? When she opens her mouth, the mask makes Wookiee sounds, which just makes her laugh more.
As of this writing, more than 43 million people have watched the video, less than 24 hours after it was initially posted.
There's a lot to love about Payne and the joy she's experiencing in this four minute clip. Even before she gets to showing off the mask she pretends to judge anyone that jumped to the conclusion that she was at Kohl's returning clothes because they were too small for her ("Surprisingly, it was a little too big. I know some of you may have been thinking the opposite. Shame."). But then just immediately chuckles and says, "It's all love. It's all love."
The video caught on like wildfire on popular social media services like Twitter and Reddit (and of course Facebook, where it originated). It even caught the attention of Peter Mayhew, the Texas-based actor who plays Chewbacca in the movies. He commented on a Reddit post about the video to say "Absolutely wonderful!"
(Mayhew then signed his post with his usual "Cheers, Peter Mayhew" signature, which he includes in all of his Reddit posts, and which solidifies him as an extremely lovable human being.)
If only all of us could love things as much as this woman loves that mask.
