'Pokemon' is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a Super Bowl commercial

There's not too much that makes me feel old, but repeatedly hearing "This year is Pokemon's 20th anniversary"? Yep, that does the trick.

The Pokemon Company is doing a lot of things this year to celebrate the milestone, including re-releasing the original Pokemon games (Red, Blue and Yellow) on the Nintendo 3DS and giving away legendary Pokemon in the more modern games during special events. They want to make sure everybody knows that pocket monsters are still cool, though, so they're making a big effort to get the news out in front of people.

Like, say, with a Super Bowl commercial.

The ad, which was filmed in Rio de Janiero, has the theme "train on" and focuses on people of all ages following their dreams. Wanna win a chess tournament? Go for it. Wanna be one of the best football players in the game? You can do that. You wanna be the very best, like no one ever was? Yeah, you can do that, too.

We can expect to see a lot more Pokemon throughout the course of 2016, so if you've purchased at least one of the more than 275 million Pokemon video games sold worldwide, or if you'ved owned any of the 21.5 billion Pokemon trading cards, then you might want to get ready to feel nostalgic.
