Dishonored leads the list of free PlayStation Plus games for April

April's offering of free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers isn't as mind-blowing as some months past, but it does feature some cool indie games, one of the Vita's biggest exclusives and one of my favorite stealth action games in recent memory. If you're a PS3, PS4 or Vita owner (or all of the above) who subscribes to Sony's premium service, here's what you're getting in April:

Dishonored (PS3)

Dishonored strikes a balance that's hard to get right: Being sneaky is typically the way to go, but if you need to turn into an action hero you're more than capable of causing chaos. As a supernatural assassin, the powers at your disposal are powerful, but none are as handy (or as fun to use) as Blink, which allows you to teleport short distances to get out of (or into) all sorts of tricky situations.

Tower of Guns (PS4, PS3)

An indie first-person shooter that is exactly what it sounds like. It's got randomized levels, lots of crazy weapons and a lot (I mean a lot) of bullets flying at you at all times.

Aaru's Awakening (PS4, PS3)

This 2D platformer has a pretty cool hand-drawn style, and it's the first game from a group of developers in Iceland.

News Roundups

Catch up on the day's news you need to know.

Or with:

Never Alone (PS4)

Never Alone has received a lot of really high praise not just for its mechanics as a 2D platform/puzzle game, but also for its story, structure, and history. Developed with help from the Cook Inlet Tribal Council, this game tells stories from the indigenous people of Alaska and features documentary videos that will give you more of the real history behind the folklore.

Killzone Mercenary (Vita)

The Vita is not as good a system for first-person shooters as a lot of people (Sony included, I think) wanted it to be. But Killzone Mercenary is probably the best example of the genre on the platform. I don't know if anyone is still playing it online (though I enjoyed the multiplayer well enough when it was new), but the single-player campaign isn't bad, and it's technically impressive for a handheld game.

MonsterBag (Vita)

This one is making its debut as a PlayStation Plus title. It's a cute (well, cute for something involving monsters and occasional violence) puzzle game about a bag-shaped monster trying to navigate through crowds of people in order to get back to its friend Nia.
