DFW-area celebrities were in force during the Hand in Hand telethon on Wednesday night, Sept. 12.
The show was broadcast across several networks and in several locations: Los Angeles, New York and Nashville.
Selena Gomez invoked her hometown's name during her special video of support. In what was clearly an emotional moment, Gomez talked about Grand Prairie.
This was just after Richardson native Demi Lovato participated in a quartet that sang a triumphant "With a Little Help From My Friends" with Brad Paisley, CeCe Winans and Darius Rucker. They performed at the Grand Ole Opry, which had been underwater from a flood in 2010.
The finale was broadcast from deep in the heart of Texas, at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio.
Lindale's Miranda Lambert participated in a group effort at "George Strait's Hand in Hand Texas." After being introduced by Matthew McConaughey, the group that also had Chris Stapleton, Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keene sang an appropriate "Texas."
The night had many mashups: There were the phones, where Oprah Winfrey was taking calls between Justin Bieber and Sofia Vergara. And there were the presenters, where Gwen Stefani urged donations with Dennis Quaid.
Billy Crystal wrapped up the televised portion of the event which raised more than $44 million during the night.
