Marvel TV show The Gifted will not continue to film in Dallas.

The show, which is on Fox's fall television schedule, finished filming its pilot in Deep Ellum and other parts of Dallas in April. The series was quickly picked up to series and primed for success; Fox said the first full-length trailer was viewed more than 30 million times.

That meant Dallas finally had a Big Four network show on which it could hang its hat. And possibly attract other television properties. With The Gifted packing up, though, that leaves USA Network's Queen of the South as the only marquee scripted series currently filming in and around the city.

But it was not meant to be.

"We tried, but THE GIFTED first season will not be shot in Dallas," read a post on the Dallas Film Commission Facebook page

The full text: "We unfortunately have some bad news to share folks. We tried, but THE GIFTED first season will not be shot in Dallas. They needed to make a decision last week, waited until yesterday even, but time ran out given the Texas Legislature has not finished it's [sic] business this session. We're disappointed too, but not giving up on the bigger picture."

There's a fight at the city and the state level about film incentives. Unfortunately, with no decision yet out of the state governing body, The Gifted chose to move.
