Marvel's Deadpool will not be getting any rest soon. He's headed to TV in an animated series for FXX, courtesy of co-creator Donald Glover.
According to Variety, there will be 10 episodes in the first season that's set to premiere in 2018.
Glover has racked up all sorts of good will with his star turns on Community and his Golden Globe-winning (and affecting acceptance speech for) Atlanta. One also cannot forget his Grammy-nominated alter ego Childish Gambino, either.
It'll all be put to the test with this venture with the "Merc With the Mouth," who is a perpetual thorn in nearly everyone's side in the Marvel Universe, including the comics writers; see "Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe." Glover (Lando Calrissian to eager Star Wars fans) and Atlanta staff writer-brother, Stephen Glover, will be top dogs: They will be show runners, writers and executive producers.
Marvel is keeping the series in the family; Donald Glover will star in the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming, while Atlanta co-star Zazie Beetz will play Domino in Deadpool 2. Marvel's Jeph Loeb is an executive producer.
There's no title for the series yet, though an R-rated series should fit right in with the recent move of Archer to FXX. May we suggest "Deaderpool?"
