He was the best man at their wedding. And now he lives with them.
RC and Sherron Bridges of Quinlan have a pet buffalo who goes by the name of "Wild Thing." And he doesn't just live with them, he's an indoor pet. You know, like a puppy. But wild.
On Wednesday's Steve Harvey, the host tries to get to the root of some weird news stories in an episode dubbed, "Is it Weird?: Ripped From the Headlines Edition." He's joined by Dr. John Duffy, a clinical psychologist.
The Bridges became that type of news when a video of their "pet" making himself at home went viral. Wild Thing is truly at home in the clip, which is also shown on the show. According to RC, Thing's favorite show is Spongebob and they throw him birthday parties. In. The. House.
The couple explains that the animals are "extremely dangerous," almost with glee. Sherron adds, "I wouldn't recommend anybody else doing this." Now, there's a disclaimer for you, but a little too late; in May, Dallas Morning News reporter Charlie Scudder wrote about another house buffalo.
Harvey is struck dumb -- which hardly ever happens -- by the couple's talk about their pet and asks "Duff" to fill the silence. Dr. Duffy did not succeed in not laughing and said, "This just gets weirder as the story goes on."
Sherron might have taken offense: "You bring cats and dogs in the house. You bring the kids in the house. Why not? Right? Right?"
Um, well, OK? I guess Dr. Duffy and Steve missed the sign at the state line: "Welcome to Texas."
Steve Harvey airs daily on NBC-5.
