Two muscled-up North Texans take on the Beast in Netflix series

When the streaming network searched the world for contestants, it came to Dallas.

Two muscled-up North Texans are featured in Netflix's new global reality competition series, Ultimate Beastmaster. Executive-produced by Sylvester Stallone, it will be released on Feb. 24.

In it, 108 competitors from six countries try to conquer an almost sci-fi obstacle course called the Beast. (Imagine that James Bond, George Lucas and Marquis de Sade collaborated on the design.)

From Dallas, there's former Cowboys wide receiver Isaiah Stanback, owner of a Super Bowl ring from his time as a New York Giant. He also played with the Patriots. These days, Stanback is a personal trainer, co-owner of Steadfast Fitness and Performance in Coppell.

From Arlington,  there's Steven Tucker, a rock-climbing wonder.  He's a manager at Dyno-Rock Indoor Climbing Center. Even with his experience, The Beast was new.

"I train for obstacles but it was different than pretty much anything I'd been on," Tucker said. "We saw a clip before we went out and it's one of those things where, when you see it in person, it blows you away. It also didn't help that 10 days before I left to compete, I got eight stitches in my thumb and had them taken out the day I left."

This multi-lingual series fits with Netflix's move toward world domination. There are six versions of the show in six languages. The United States, Brazil, South Korea, Mexico, Germany and Japan each have 18 contestants.
