USA Network renews Dallas-shot 'Queen of the South' for Season 2

Dallas-shot Queen of the South is coming back for Season 2, according to Deadline.

Alice Braga stars as Teresa Mendoza, who goes from on the run to running things in the drug-fueled soap opera. The series tells the story from the end of her story.

The series has been the No. 1 cable program in several demographics during its first season, according to Deadline.

Veronica Falcon has had a stellar turn as drug queenpin Camila Vargas, while Peter Gadiot has been steely as James Valdez. Other co-stars in the international cast include Justina Machado and Gerardo Taracena.

The series is based on the book La Reina del Sur, written by Arturo Perez-Reverte. It's the second series adapted from the book; a telenovela by the same name was a hit for Telemundo.
